K. who said: "Keep that hairbrush so you won't forget me."
M. who probably still wishes I would perm my hair and not wear jeans with holes in the knees.
A. with whom I sat up most of the night, wrapped in a thin robe, trying to talk through a misunderstanding.
The curly haired guy whose name I can't remember. He called me collect and I didn't accept the charges.
A. who said: "I don't want to come and visit you. Things will just be different and I'll be mad."
H. who wanted to be my boyfriend in grade school.
L. whose tears streamed down her face when it was time to go.
D. because I said, "I'm sorry, this won't work out."
A. because I never said "I'm sorry, this won't work out."
M. who truly believes my soul is in peril.
A. who wanted me to care more than I could.
Poem eight, chapter four... can't tell if it's interesting or not:)
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteA couple of things -
The witty talented boy doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the poem. ???
I get it a little distracted when you come so close to a pattern for all the lines ("X., who.... "), but not quite. But that may just be me.
The "sorry, this won't work out" lines work wonderfully.
And I like the final line of "who wanted me to care more than I could."
Finally, is the reader to assume that the initials are consistent (A. is the same A. in each line)?
Whohoo! I'm finally getting back to this after a long absence:)
ReplyDeleteI deleted some lines, re-wrote a few... what do you think?
By the way, some of the letters are the same person... sometimes two people had the same initials:)
