To a Sassafras in Fall

Slim sassafras with jewels in your hair
All braided in among your branches brown;
Two arms raised in some rapture to the skies
So curved and supple like a young girl's arms.

Your body clothed with wind and flaming hair
Has vibrant life so like humanity
I should believe that dryads truly lived
Were I to gaze upon you for too long.
